ABOUT & OPEN DATA

Local places.
Clearer starting points.

Hall to Rent helps you discover UK and US community spaces and contact their operators directly.

What is in the directory?

This edition contains 33,662 named halls, community centres and event venues from official Geofabrik OpenStreetMap extracts. The UK snapshot (2026-10-03) has 16,632 records; the US snapshot (2026-10-03) has 17,030. Coverage is limited to these two countries for now, and is incomplete in each. We do not claim to list every hall or venue. It includes places tagged as community centres or event venues, and explicit village/community-hall subtypes. Government offices, social-care facilities, unnamed buildings and explicitly private or inactive places are not intentionally included. Tagged closures and close same-name duplicates are removed; data can still be out of date or misclassified.

A listing is not proof of private hire, opening status, suitability, safety, price or availability. Halls in a mapped name are a category clue, not a verified service. We do not invent reviews, photographs, amenities or hire rates.

Missing details stay missing.

We display phone numbers, websites and address fields only when supplied. Capacity is shown only for a plain numeric capacity/persons field; room layout and what the number refers to must be checked. Wheelchair labels reflect the map tag, not an independent access audit. A missing field does not mean a facility is absent.

How search works

Country detection chooses an initial UK or US search; a country page or your saved manual choice takes priority. You can change it at any time. It does not guess your town. Submitted town, postcode and ZIP-code lookups use Photon / komoot. You choose between ambiguous results. Distances are calculated from the chosen point or optional device location in the browser, as straight lines rather than travel times. City pages start at the city centre and include a small static list for visitors without JavaScript.

Corrections and omissions

Every interactive card links to its OpenStreetMap record, where contributors can suggest corrections or add missing places using first-hand information and permitted sources. Our dataset is a dated snapshot; map edits appear only after a future refresh, not instantly. A refresh is not currently scheduled.

Open data and independent operation

Data © OpenStreetMap contributors, under the Open Database License. Download our derived directory. The hall illustration is original artwork and does not depict a listed venue. The site uses no paid map tiles.

Operated by Yolleg Ltd, company 10455920, 71–75 Shelton Street, London, WC2H 9JQ. Site enquiries: [email protected], the operator’s existing support address. Contact venues, not this address, for bookings.

Yolleg also operates Village Hall Booking, a separate paid booking-management service for hall operators. Its link is an own-business referral, not a claim that listed halls use it. This directory has no paid ranking, booking commission or sponsored listings at launch.
