Country estimate

Cloudflare provides an approximate country code from your connection. We use it to choose a UK or US starting search when there is no country page or saved manual preference; it does not choose your town or precise position. Other countries can choose either of the supported directories. The location endpoint returns only a country code, never your IP address.

Optional precise location

We request device location only after you click Use my location. Your browser controls permission. Coordinates stay in tab memory for local distance calculations; they are not sent to our server, the geocoder, external directions links or local storage. Clear location or close the tab to remove them. The browser/device location provider has its own privacy practices.

Town, postcode and ZIP-code searches

Only an explicitly submitted search goes to our server and Photon / komoot for lookup. Choose a town or postcode/ZIP code rather than a private full address. The selected country is sent with your search. Results are cached for seven days in private server files, refreshed when searched again. Providers may process request logs. Popular-city searches use public city-centre coordinates already in the site data.

Shortlist and preferences

Saved public venue identifiers, your manually selected country, calculator currency preference and the distance unit use this browser’s local storage, without an account or sync. Remove saved venues with the star button or clear site data in your browser. Comparison selections and location remain in tab memory. Cost figures and editable enquiry text are not uploaded or saved by our code. A browser may restore form values itself.

Hosting and external services

Cloudflare and hosting.com process normal network/request information for website delivery and security. The site adds no analytics, advertising trackers or embedded third-party maps. Venue websites, OpenStreetMap, Google Maps and Photon have their own policies. Clicking a website, call, email or directions link opens the relevant outside service. Directions links specify only the public venue destination; your map service may independently use a location you have given it.
